ABOUT SMARTSOIL

SmartSoil Ltd is the UK distributor for Joraform Kompost AB of Sweden. Compost all of your cooked and uncooked food scraps (including meat and fish) and other biological waste (even if you do not have a garden!). The Jora composters work all year round, even in the winter, quicker than you thought possible, with the minimum of fuss and mess (and no bad smells).
All Jora products are true composting machines. Whatever you put in them, the result is a finished compost ready to use on the garden.
The domestic range comprises the JK125 and the JK270.
Identical in all respects except capacity, these elegant machines can be wall-mounted, or free standing. What makes these composters unique is their:
insulation
potentially allowing composting temperatures to reach 70°C and thus composting all your kitchen waste efficiently and hygenically throughout the year.dual chamber construction
means that one chamber is always available to take food waste on a daily basis.quick and efficient operation
typical time from filling to emptying one chamber is 6 to 8 weeksease of rotation
which ensures thorough mixing, eliminating bad odoursrobust, rodent-proof construction.
The JK400 is ideally suited to small businesses. It operates on exactly the same principles as the JK125 and JK270. It has the capacity of up to 3 JK270s and can still be operated manually - although a large handle is provided in order to give the leverage necessary to turn the machine when it is full.
The JK5100 community composter also utilises the two-chamber principle, but is fully automated, taking up to 50kg of category 3 catering waste per day. Mixing rate and ventilation are programmable, and the process can be monitored and controlled at all times to ensure succesful results. Mature compost is emptied from the machine about every 2 weeks.
No chemicals or worms are required - simply the addition of wood pellets (or sawdust) as a carbon source and for moisture control purposes.
We have sold Jora composters to: London Borough of Tower Hamlets, CRNS (Community Resources Network Scotland), Aberdeen Council, National Trust, Oxfordshire County Council, The Open University Devon County Council, London Borough of Camden.
